Well, I made it. I survived another week. This week was long for me. I don't know why but it seems to be dragging on. Who knows, maybe it is the weather. Emili woke up today and declared that she wasn't going to school because she had a sore throat. I simply explained to her that if she didn't go to school, she wasn't playing with any of her friends this weekend. She got to feeling better very quickly and was off to Quad with me. After work and picking Emili up, she is still complaining of it, so it was off to the Piggly Wiggly (wobbly hog) to purchase some sore throat medicine. She was not too sick though. She has been wanting to go to buy yet another pumpkin. Supposedly, the one she had already was feeling lonely. We went in the cold and rain to find her a new one and it is now sitting on the deck outside getting rained on.



Yep, its official. Tomorrow is sweetest day. Some stupid Hallmark holiday set up to make money and to let that special someone know that you care. I will be spending yet another holiday without that special someone. I think that is why the only Holiday that I like is Thanksgiving. I always have my Emili to be thankful for. If you have a special someone in your life, don't forget to let them know how special they are each day. Origins and Facts About Sweetest Day

Observed the 3rd Saturday in the month of October, Sweetest Day observance originated in Cleveland in 1922. Herbert Birch Kingston, a philanthropist and candy company employee wanted to bring happiness into the lives of orphans, shut-ins and others who were forgotten. With the help of friends, he began to distribute candy and small gifts to the underprivileged.On the first Sweetest Day, movie star Ann Pennington presented 2,200 Cleveland newspaper boys with boxes of candy to express gratitude for their service to the public.
Another popular movie star, Theda Bara, distributed 10,000 boxes of candy to people in Cleveland hospitals and also gave candy to all who came to watch her film in a local theater.
Primarily a regional observance celebrated in the Great Lakes region and the Northeast, Sweetest Day is gradually spreading to other areas of the country. People tend to take the Sweetest Day tradition with them when they move. Ohio is the top state for Sweetest Day sales, followed by Michigan and Illinois. Texas, California and Florida are among the top 10 states in sales.
Over the years, Sweetest Day has evolved into a time to express romantic love and also to show appreciation to friends.
